Kooster McAllister came to New York City’s Record
Plant Studios in 1978 working on their mobile recording
units as an Assistant Engineer. Working his way up to
Chief Engineer, he purchased the remote recording division
from Record Plant Studios in 1991 and opened Record Plant
Remote, Inc. Since that time Record Plant Remote has
been an industry leader in remote recording and live
broadcasts, with credits that read like a “who’s
who” of the entertainment industry.
From classical artists like Luciano Pavarotti and Itzhak
Perlman (with the New York Philharmonic), to the Rolling
Stones and Bruce Springsteen, Guns ‘N
Roses to Prince, The Who to Bon
Jovi and Billy Joel - Kooster’s
clients vary widely.
Kooster has mixed and recorded many of rock-n-roll’s
biggest music festivals, including the 1994 and 1999 Woodstock
Music Festivals, Live Aid, Eric
Clapton’s Crossroads Guitar Festival and the Country
Music Association Festival/Fan Fair in Nashville to
name a few.
Kooster has been honored with a Grammy Award for
his work on the movie “Standing in the Shadows
of Motown” and was nominated for three Emmy
Awards for his live-to-air HBO concerts of Whitney Houston, Janet
Jackson and Bette Midler. Mix Magazine
awarded McAllister four TEC Awards for “Remote
Recording Engineer of the Year”, the Record
Plant Remote has won six TEC Awards as “Remote Recording
Facility of the Year”.
His work has not been limited to only shows done on the Record
Plant truck - Kooster has engineered shows in Canada, Europe
and South America for Garth Brooks, Jewel,
the UK’s International Rock Awards as
well as Rush’s multi-platinum “Rush
in Rio” concert DVD and the recent Rolling
Stones live television concerts broadcast in Rio and
Buenos Aries. Kooster spent this past Summer in Nashville as
music mixer for NBC TV’s live-to-air
reality television series “Nashville Star”,
now in its sixth season and CMT’s“Can
You Duet” which is now in pre production for season
two.

Paul Special - Systems Engineer

Paul Special's experience runs the gamut of professional
audio settings: from the engineering of 24 and 48 track
record poductions, jingles, broadcast/remote audio, and
live touring sound to the design of recording studios,
mastering rooms and even automated satellite uplink/downlink
audio systems. It's this wide-ranging body of work, and
Paul's steadfast professionalism and integrity, that makes
him and Special Audio Services such an effective operation.
